The image highlights shape, light, and shadow, allowing the geometry and rhythm of the design to speak for themselves.

How to Choose Wall Art That Actually Feels Like You
Blank walls can make even a beautifully furnished room feel unfinished. But choosing wall art is more than just “filling space.” The right piece can change how a room feels, tell your story, and even lift your mood every single day. If you’ve ever stood in front of a wall thinking, “I like this piece, but will it really work here?” - this guide is for you. At Envision Galleria, we help customers turn houses into homes with intentional art. Here’s how to choose wall art that feels personal, not random. 1. Start With How You Want the Room to Feel Before you think about colors or frames, ask yourself: Do I want this room to feel calm or energizing? Should it feel cozy and intimate or open and airy? Is this a space for focus, conversation, or relaxation? Then match the mood: Calm & relaxing (bedroom, spa‑like bathroom): soft neutrals, nature scenes, abstract minimal art. Energizing & bold (living room, office, studio): vivid colors, expressive brushstrokes, statement photography. Warm & cozy (reading corner, dining area): warm tones, people‑focused pieces, storytelling artwork. When you lead with feeling, decisions become much easier. 2. Choose Colors That Work With What You Already Own Look at your space right now, sofa, rug, cushions, curtains. Pick 2–3 key colors from your existing décor: 1 dominant color (large surfaces like walls, sofa, rug) 1–2 accent colors (cushions, throws, décor pieces) Your wall art can then: Echo one of these colors for a harmonious look Or introduce 1 new accent color to add interest Tip: If your space is already colorful, try artwork with more neutral backgrounds so it doesn’t fight with the rest of the room. 3. Size Matters More Than You Think One of the most common mistakes we see? Beautiful art that’s simply too small. Use these quick guidelines: Above a sofa or bed: artwork should be about 60–75% of the furniture width. For a single statement piece: Small wall: 40–60 cm wide Medium wall: 60–90 cm wide Large wall: 90–120+ cm wide Gallery wall: look for several pieces that relate in color or theme instead of random mixing. If you’re unsure, go slightly bigger rather than smaller. Bold art often makes a room feel more put‑together. 4. Match the Style to the Space (and to You) Art should feel like a natural extension of your personality. Consider: Modern & minimal spaces: abstract art, geometric compositions, black & white photography. Boho or eclectic rooms: textured prints, warm palettes, nature‑inspired or figurative works. Classic or traditional rooms: landscapes, fine‑art photography, timeless compositions. It’s absolutely okay to mix styles, your home isn’t a showroom. Just keep at least one unifying element: color palette, framing style, or subject. 5. Think About Story, Not Just Aesthetics The best pieces are the ones that make you feel something when you walk past them. Ask yourself: Does this artwork remind me of a place I love? Does it reflect my values, culture, or dreams? Would I still love it 3–5 years from now? When a piece holds a story, it becomes more than décor—it becomes part of your life. 6. Don’t Forget the Frame & Placement A frame can completely change how a piece feels. Light wood frames: airy, Scandinavian, relaxed. Black frames: modern, bold, graphic. White frames: clean, gallery‑like, minimal. Gold/bronze frames: classic, elegant, warm. Hang artwork at eye level (roughly 145–155 cm from floor to center of the piece). Above furniture, leave around 15–25 cm of space. 7. When in Doubt, Curated Collections Help If you feel overwhelmed, start with a curated collection instead of scrolling endlessly. At Envision Galleria, we group our artworks by: Mood (e.g., Calm Neutrals, Bold Statements) Room type (e.g., Bedroom Serenity, Living Room Focal Pieces) Style (e.g., Abstract, Minimal, Nature‑Inspired) This way, you’re choosing from options that already work well together. Choosing wall art doesn’t have to be intimidating. When you focus on mood, color, size, and story, your walls start to feel like a reflection of who you are - not just what was available. Learn moreA Simple Guide to Picking the Right Size Wall Art for Any Room
You’ve found a piece of art you love, but then the big question appears: “Is this the right size for my wall?” Even the most beautiful design will look off if it’s too tiny or too overwhelming. The good news? You don’t need a designer to figure this out. A few simple rules will help you choose confidently. Here’s our easy sizing guide from the Envision Galleria team. 1. Measure Your Wall (Then Use the 60–75% Rule) Start with the width of your wall or the furniture below it. Above furniture (like a sofa, console, or bed):Your artwork (or grouping of artwork) should be about 60–75% of the furniture width. Example: Sofa width: 200 cm Ideal artwork width: between 120–150 cm in total This keeps your piece visually connected to the furniture instead of “floating” awkwardly. 2. Single Statement Piece vs. Gallery Wall If you love a clean, minimal look, go for one large statement piece. If you like a more collected, personal feel, choose a gallery wall. Single piece sizing ideas: Small wall: 40–60 cm wide Medium wall: 60–90 cm wide Large wall: 90–120+ cm wide Gallery wall tips: Treat the whole gallery as one big shape that still follows the 60–75% rule. Keep 5–8 cm of space between frames. Use at least one repeating element (same color frames or similar tones) to avoid visual chaos. 3. Ideal Heights: Where Should You Hang It? A common rule from galleries and museums: Hang art so that the center of the piece is at eye level - around 145–155 cm from the floor. For pieces above furniture: Leave 15–25 cm between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame. Avoid placing artwork too high; it creates a disconnected look. 4. Room‑by‑Room Sizing Tips Living Room Use your largest, most impactful pieces here. Above the sofa is prime real estate for a statement piece or a balanced gallery wall. If you have high ceilings, choose taller or stacked pieces to draw the eye up. Bedroom The space above the headboard is perfect for a calming piece. Either one large horizontal artwork or a pair of two smaller pieces works beautifully. Keep colors softer to support rest and relaxation. Dining Room Art should sit comfortably at eye level while seated. Large, horizontally oriented pieces often work best here. Hallways & Entryways Narrow spaces love vertically oriented pieces or a series of smaller artworks in a line. This is also an ideal place for simple, impactful prints or photography. 5. When Bigger Is (Usually) Better If you’re torn between two sizes, we almost always recommend the larger one. Why? Small pieces can make a room feel cluttered and unfinished. Larger pieces feel intentional and give the space a focal point. The only time to be cautious is in very small rooms with low ceilings - here, you’ll want to keep proportions gentle and balanced. 6. Try the Paper or Tape Trick Still unsure? Test it visually before you buy. Use masking tape to outline the size of the artwork on your wall, Or tape together sheets of paper to create a mock‑up and step back. If it looks balanced from across the room, you’ve got your size. Choosing the right size wall art doesn’t have to be a guessing game. With a few basic rules - and a quick tape test - you can create a space that looks thoughtfully designed.
